Rare sheep
Most days I pass this field with its rare breed sheep, Castlemilk Moorit.
They are owned by a young woman who is passionate about sheep.
They are descended from the original flock bred by Sir Jock Buchanan-Jardine on his Castlemilk estate in Dumfriesshire.
Using Manx Loghtan, moorit Shetland and wild Mouflon, he developed a breed to beautify his parkland and provide fine, kemp free moorit coloured wool.
On the death of Sir John Buchanan-Jardine in 1970 the majority of the flock was culled leaving about a dozen to be dispersed.
These are some of the descendants.
