Perfect Pearl Joel

This time I want to write some thoughts about one of my favorite Finnish author Joel Haahtela. He is one of the Finnish authors who writes nowadays. So good writers are found also in this current time, which pleases also me, and I’m a quite selective reader. I think that Joel and his writings are like a perfect pearls in this universe.

He is a very special writer in many ways. At first he is a personal writer indeed. His sentences are like pearls, because everything what he writes is so considered. I like a lot that kind of writing style. There is nothing too much. And what you are missing after reading his book is the next one! And fortunately he is writing more, so there is coming this kind of enjoyable reading moments also in future.

If you are ever thought that perfectness is dull and if there even can be real perfectness in this world, you are going to believing it again, because he has a great ability to show that you can catch those perfect moments with words if you are enough skilled like he is. When you are reading his stories everything is in a perfect harmony and that kind of harmony makes good for reader's brain.

In his works beauty, memories, time and melancholy involves in a very special way. There is always some beauty in floating around, for example when de descripes snowing. It’s typical to him to use nature phenomena as symbols when he actually writes about person’s mind.

The persons in his stories travel a lot and they seem to seek something. A meaning of childhood is an important role in his books, the memories are like dreams. He shows that world of memories obviously influences to a person’s current life. He really can write a lot of from the short moment and create meaningful atmospheres.

And we have to ask what is real and meaningful actually; this moment or maybe memories, how about when you are old and you have only yours memories left? How about if you are going to remember you life, those little moments and everything, much more beautiful than younger when you really lived. So there is a lot of travelling in the mind too, and that fascinates me.

When I read his themes, for example being outsider in this world, I feel a very warm and familiar feelings and I identified it a lot. Haahtela really shows that melancholy is beautiful. Wistful in a positive way is one of the most suitable words to describe the world he has created and those persons are like a human indeed.
