Amen to Mary

Today has been fun filled and action packed although not all would agree. We've had another outing.

It was the wally train to the bottom of the hill. A bus into fuengirola. Another bus to La Cala. It was nice going that way we were back on familiar ground and it was nice. We were looking for a resteraunt which has been on television. It's Olivias, owned by Elliot Wright off TOWIE. He's now got his own series about his resteraunt.

We got off the bus and with google map tracking our every step we soon found it and found ourselves a table. The waitress very nice, we decided not to eat, it was a bit beyond our budget and we were'nt keen on the menu, but thats our personal taste. It wasn't long before Elliot made an appearance, he was just normal. Too old for fan girling and screaming as I saw him I just watched him a while, he had a photo with someone else, answered a phone call and went off in his little smart car. We finished our drinks and went across the road for lunch. It was very nice.

We headed back to catch the bus to fuengirola then a other back to carejeva or however you spell it.there was a delay in the buses and the ticket man in fuengirola was not happy when we asked for a refund! Anyway, with buses being late we just missed the wally train up the hill! So with an hour to wait for the next one teenage son and I, with water bottle in hand, set off to walk 'the hill'. 21%. It took us 8 minutes to walk the 21% bit and we arrived back in 22 minutes, all uphill. We were pleased with ourselves. We beat the wally bus back up.

With another 50 minutes to catch the wally train going up the hill we got ready to go out. We were going for a chinese meal at benalmadena pueblo. So needed to catch a bus at the top to get to our chosen destination. We arrived and the chinese resteraunt was shut! So we found another place on a corner and we had our meal there. Teenage daughter had fish, it was so big she thought it was a whale. She didn't eat it all.

Now today is assumption day of Mary in Spain. The feast day of the assumption of mary celebrates the Christian belief that god assumed the virgin mary into heaven following her death. It is celebrated on or around 15th August. We were so lucky to be able to see the church and watch the procession in the little place of benalmadena pueblo. It was lovely to see the ladies and children dressed in traditional dresses for the evening. There were lots of people turned out. A figure of what we assumed was Mary holding Jesus was carried by around 80 men at the end of the procession and people in houses above sprinkled something over Mary as she went past. Bands played music in the procession and it was well attended by many. We couldn't have got this evening any better if we had planned it. Amazing.

We are waiting for photos on the website because our phones ran out of charge so not many photos of the fantastic procession.

So after another adventuress day in spain its time for bed.

Goodnight and Amen to Mary.
