Cirencester from the Bell Tower

We spent 4 hours at Cirencester today.  I thought I'd have a look at the remains of the Roman walls they mentioned in 'the books'.  It turned out that there were not much of these walls left at all, but this didn't mean a disappointment for me, or us.  It was a warm day, sunny the whole day, and we just took our time strolling around.  As usual, the local abbey was the first thing we visited.  Hubby insisted on climbing up the bell tower.  We were a small group of four (2 Dutch, 2 from Barbados) led by a guide (you're not allowed to go up by yourself) and this was obviously shot at the very top.

After the tower, we had a snack then a walk in the park, which is where you see the ruins.  We weren't really in the mood to check out the park of the castle (not sure it was open anway but that didn't matter), but I was quite in the mood for some shopping, for a change, so I entered a shop I'd seen earlier and bought 3 scarves ... gosh!  Then the bus ride back to Gloucester, during which our bus slightly bumped an SUV coming from the opposite direction, but that was because the road was actually only single track and, well, how do you squeeze five elephants in a Volkswagen?  We silently took the side of the driver, poor man.  Back in Gloucester, we had dinner at the same pub we visited two days ago, then the bus ride back to Churchdown and the mile-long walk to our B&B, and it was still quite warm.

Tired now and will reply to yesterday's comments, but I think that's about it.  Hubby is snoring peacefully now ...
