Olympics

Went to the Olympics today. Finally managed to get a ticket last night at about 8.40pm, so then it was a scramble to make sure I had everything ready.

Got up at 5am to get the train at 6.08am, but it was certainly worth it. Such a magnificent day. I saw Jessica Ennis in the long jump and javelin, Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay, Adam Gemili and Dwayne Chambers, in the 100m mens heats, and Oscar Pistorius in the 400m mens heats.

This photo is actually the women's pole vaulting - and two managed to jump together! Am thinking we should have synchronised pole vaulting as a new Olympic sport!

Spent the rest of the afternoon wandering round the Park. Such a magnificent achievement - it really is stunning.

Met a friend after she came out of the hockey, and we wandered around together for a while. Everyone was really happy, and so many people had made the effort to dress the part - some were quite bizarre, but what the hell - it made people smile!

I'm going back to the Paralympics in September, but am so tempted to try to get another ticket for the Olympics - perhaps this time for a medal ceremony. Team GB are doing so well, and would have loved to have been in that Stadium last night!
