Thermae

We nipped down to Chichester this morning to have a look at the recently-opened Novium Museum. My considered opinion is that the museum is wonderful. Not only does it showcase the excavated remains of Chichester's (or Noviomagus's) Roman bath house, but it's also excitingly modern in its design and layout. I loved the light and space. Given that the museum has 500,000 years of Chichester's history to represent I thought the way the displays are organised by such human themes as 'Creativity' and 'Sorrow' rather than purely chronologically was innovative and really effective. All in all, well worth a visit. The chocolate for sale in the shop is highly recommended too ;)

Pictured is the hypocaust system from the bath house.

Still recovering from the excitement of our brilliant performance in the Olympics yesterday (and I only watched it on TV!) and as I type Andy Murray has won the first set against Federer :)
