Railways, the early days!

Following on but a contrast to the train post of a few days ago is todays Blip. The main shot is along Market Street, in the late 1800's and the early part of the 1900's the railway was the main method of transporting people and produce throughout the country. These and many more houses in the street formed an important residential hub in our community, providing accomodation to the many rail workers in our community. As rail workers they lived in the area and they worked in the area. The main Northern Railway Line is directly opposite these cottages. The first extra shot is of the Muswellbrook Freight Depot. Up until the 1990's, this is where the majority of goods and parcels came to in our town the building was constructed in 1922. Then came interstate truck transport and couriers. The last shot is of the original hospital in our town, it had seven beds and was considered state of the art in 1864 and was built for the Muswellbrook Benevolent Society. The building was further renovated in 1880. Hope your day was warm and clear!
