Middlewich Arm

Another trip to the canal boat today, to give her a two hour trial run to make sure everything works. It mostly does. One exception is the clock near the stern, which I use to gauge speed and progress. Changing the battery didn't have any effect so I went to try to buy a new one.

In a Chandlery, I asked whether they had any clocks for sale.  The assistant asked: "what, normal clocks?"

"Sorry, what do you mean by 'normal clocks?' "

"You know, clocks that tell the time."

"Yes, that would be fine."

"No, we don't sell them."
