Austrian Stuff#2

One of the things I found intriguing about Austria was that many Austrians have a cute little wooden garden house at the bottom of their garden. A place where they can relax, sit in the sun, make a cup of coffee. Many people have a Teichhaus or lake house which are on a small block of land situated around a lake (obviously). Sometimes they are more substantial and are used as a holiday home but most are small and simple with kitchen facilities and a toilet. There is usually running water but most use solar energy to run a fridge or coffee machine. Most of them have lovely gardens and vegetable patches. I always wondered why someone would want one so close to home - a few friends have one in the same town. After spending some lazy afternoons at a couple of these I can see the attraction, particularly as most owners live in flats and don't have their own yards. My girlfriend's house, pictured above, is by a local lake and the settlement is nicknamed 'Little Mallorca' by the locals. It is on a double block with a wonderful garden, a plunge pool, garden shower, BBQ, everything you could want. A high hedge provides privacy as well as greenery. I have added some extras of the garden.
