Decapping
The bees don't appreciate having their food cupboard emptied especially at this time of year when they are fighting off wasps also after the food. So they do tend to be rather aggressive and this year I even got stung on the hands tree times but own fault if you don't wear thick leather gloves. I tend to wear none or as yesterday, a thin cloth/rubbery type where I have more feel.
Today set about decapping the wax seal the bees put over the honey once it has reached the right water content %. Spinning in the centrifuge does not break the seal. Using a comb like fork, one tries to remove the seal without damaging the rest of the cells as after spinning, the frames can be returned to the hive for the bees to clean and repair and reuse. Saves them a lot of work.
