Female fairy wren
You never know what will turn up in our garden these days. Not seen one of these around for a year or so. However they are reasonably common in all of the south eastern parts of Australia.
Females and young birds are mostly brown above with a dull red-orange area around the eye and a brown bill. Females have a pale greenish gloss, absent in young birds, on the otherwise brown tail.
