Hutton's Unconformity
Another early evening walk. Another swim in the river. We are getting to know the local dogs and their owners. We met another black lab, and for a moment I couldn't tell which was whose. We have never had a dog of our own, and we are probably over anxious. Raf is pretty well-behaved on the whole, long may that continue.
The sculpture that the Council don't want you to climb on depicts 'Hutton's Unconformity'. The real thing is further up the river and doesn't look much like this, Hutton was a geologist and noticed it on a walk and was very pleased as it proved his theory that parts the land had at one time been under the sea.
This wall makes a nice feature on the edge of the car park. It's a dry stone structure so climbing on it probably wouldn't be a good idea.
