The Old Spreader

Near Barston, Warwickshire

Saw Dad at home on Sunday. He was tired but a lot better than he had been yesterday. I learned that an hour or so after he arrived home the hospital were on the phone calling for him to go back in again. His potassium levels weren't right. Since neither are capable of driving, an ambulance was sent across to fetch him. A few hours after that, he was on his way home again.

Wind forward an hour and the hospital were on the phone again. He hadn't been given all his tablets. Could he go back in again to collect them? The tablets ended up being delivered by taxi.

An hour or so after that it was the hospital. Could he go back in because there was still some more tablets to give him? Another taxi later, he had his full compliment of medicines.

Anyway, that was the weekend. Monday was back to work. A day I had been dreading probably since I went to Wales.

Tuesday, I was about to pop out to see my Dad when Mum called. No need to bother. He was back in hospital. This time Walsgrave. They think he had had another mini stroke or two. I saw Dad in hospital on Wednesday. He wasn't much cop.
