Chaffinch
I hadn't been expecting to get a blip today but as I went into the kitchen to get the food for tea saw what looked almost like a fluff ball on a perch near our nut hanger. Turned out to be a young chaffinch which had its head stuck right in. Probably cold as it has been quite a chilly day. As I don't think it could see me I was able to get very close and take quite a few shots. After tea it seemed to have gone but a closer look showed that it was on the grass just a couple of feet away. It fluttered a little when Mrs P went to move it but she put it on a tray in the greenhouse with a warm cloth and some birdseed. If left on the grass the neighbour's cat would have got it and it also was starting to rain. I did read this week about some man who revived his tortoise by giving it the kiss of life but decided that would be an intervention too far. Perhaps should have let nature take its course except I don't really regard pet cats and dogs as part of the natural world.
