Life in Sunny Dubai

Shoreditch

Gosh, I've made it to the end of the week, and even made it in to work for 8:30 despite finishing off the packing in the morning!

Had lunch with my boss and G today at an Iranian Restaurant nearby; then back to work to finish off before heading to Cargo in Shoreditch for the first ever Summer Party for the London office!! What a shame that it rained today of all days! I am increasingly struggling with public transport / phone apps to help you navigate. We ended up walking in the wrong direction for a while (20 minutes) before we turned round! Got very wet as I believed the weather forecast which said it wouldn't rain and we were going to have a heatwave!

The party was nothing on the scale of what we've had in Dubai!! It was actually a BBQ, and the queue was so long, I gave my food coupon to someone else, so I could make it back to the hotel for 6pm, when a taxi will meet us to take us to the car hire location near Heathrow. The bus bit was messy, but we made it. SO glad I booked a taxi as it would have been a nightmare (and taken ages) to have done it on the tube or bus.

Car hire sorted within 20 minutes, and we set out on our journey back to the Lodge on the M25. Incredibly, there wasn't any traffic in the direction we were travelling (phew) and we had to stop off for milk etc. Very happy to be in a familiar place with all my creature comforts! :D Now I am looking forward to a lie-in tomorrow.

Apologies for not being able to look at journals this week and comment. It was a pretty manic week... I will aim to catch up over the weekend. Thanks for all your comments. :)

So... my blip is of the Gherkin - seen while heading from Liverpool Street Station towards the Elephant and Castle. I added the effect because that is what the week has felt like! The other noticeable thing is how much red you see in this City!
