Ullapool
Mike had some work to do first and then we headed for Ullapool. We took a picnic and stopped by one of the reservoirs to eat it. Alot of the trees which where there the last time had come down in the storms.
The only delay we had was just before Ullapool where they were resurfacing the road and we had to wait for a convey to take us through.
We parked near the harbour and walked out to have a look at the Tall Ship ,Ooserschelde. A very impressive three-masted topsail schooner, 'the last remaining representative of the large fleet of schooners that sailed under the Dutch flag at the beginning of the 20th century.' It was restored between 1988-92. It has 5 toilets and 5 showers and has a 6 cylinder John Deere engine .
There's always plenty going on in the harbour area and while we sat eating icecream we watched the fishing boats unload their catch and a man sanding down boat on the shore while the tide was out.
On to our Guest House just outside Ullapool where I sat in the pretty garden in glorious sunshine while Mike made some phone calls.
We met up with Beachcomber149 and Apothecary7and had a tasty meal in the Ceilidh place before going back to their holiday cottage for a cup of tea. We had a wonderful time and so nice to get the chance to meet up for a good natter :) Of course I got to see Maeve and give her a stroke too, such a wonderful, gentle dog.
Then a quick glimpse of the sunset before going to a gig which was very good although must admit that the bagpipes were quite loud in the small room ;)
A wonderful moon was shining above Loch Broom and we walked back to the harbour waving away a few midges that were also enjoying the calm, warm evening.
No wifi in our room so had to leave blipping till we got home.
