Mud is Better

Was trying to select a solitary sandpiper photo with a plant/green background, and discovered that the sandpiper stood out much better using a background of mud. It ain't pretty, but it's good. The sandpipers like mud better, too, only in their case it's for locating invertebrates for food.

Today there were four solitary sandpipers and one least sandpiper in the mud flats of the little creek. Only one solitary sandpiper cared to pose, and the least sandpiper was so focused on feeding it barely paid attention to me.
