An Historic Event for sure!

This evening, the Tragically Hip will perform their final concert, in Kingston, Ontario...where they come from!   For those of you who don't know about this band...well they are iconic, and have been writing songs, doing concerts, raising awareness for over 30 years....here in Canada everyone knows the words to at least 2-3 Hip songs!   Their lead singer Gord Downie has been diagnosed with incurable, terminal brain cancer!!  He is 52 years old!  What a tragedy - and what an amazing way to face your death.   They have been performing all over Canada for the past few months, and as it said on the notes to the above link, it is an extraordinary performance and and i can guarantee you won't make it thro without shedding many tears....i sure as hell didn't!  I will be tuning in to this last performance, being live streamed by CBC tonight, and along with many thousands of others, i'll be shedding a few more i can bet you!   To be able to take on your mortality in this public and truthful manner is nothing short of magnificent.   Certainly gives pause to the reality that it will come to us all.....eventually, this man knows his best by date!  and he seems to be taking it on in an amazing manner.   Can't help pondering the what if it was me scenario!!!!
