Day One - Bon Voyage

The day had finally arrived - we're off on our Big South American Adventure!

We met at the airport early to meet the families and have a last coffee together. After a teary goodbye at the airport, it finally dawned on us that we now had to spend the next 9 weeks just the two of us!

The first slight worry came when we were told our flight had been delayed by three hours....

Our flight eventually took off four hours late, only for us to realise we'd booked budget Air Canada with no inflight entertainment!! Seven hours suddenly felt reaaaaally long, without even a gin and tonic to take off the edge!

Arriving in Toronto, having missed our connection, we'd been booked onto the next direct flight for THURSDAY! A very helpful lady managed to book us onto an eleven hour non-direct flight the next day, but not before my e-ticket got 'lost on the system', leaving us waiting at the assistance desk for over three hours!!

After a looooong day, we finally checked into the Toronto Airport Hilton to wait for our next flight onwards!
