Last Minute Beak Adjustment

Team Heron's star, Big Blue, was ready on the blocks for the Swim and Glide event at Pacific Northwest Stadium today.  It was, of course, breathtaking once he decided to get going.  He seemed to be spending a considerable amount of time adjusting body parts and preening, no doubt preparing in advance for the medal ceremony.   He took Gold which was no surprise at all, but there was some spectacular gliding amongst the other heron competitors so he probably should take note and not get complacent.  

The Extra photo today is of the reclusive Olympic patrons Cornelius and Gloria Ganderbilt watching the heron competition from their private spot on the bank.  It's always exciting to catch a glimpse of goose royalty.  The fans were so excited they almost threatened to eclipse the competition, but in the end they were most respectful of the pair who appeared to enjoy the attention as well as the competition.
