Thomas Telford....

designed this amazing structure, the Craigellachie Bridge and it was constructed between 1812 and 1814. In the 'muckle spate' of 1829 it was the only bridge left standing on the Spey when the river rose 50' above its normal level. Telford was justified, having been previously criticised for it's high design.
