Chateau du Brissac

What a lovely chateau this is. Privately owned and still lived in by the family. Beautiful grounds, a lovely Salon du Tea and a good English speaking guide who happily put up with my kids questions. What more could you ask for? Oh yes very few visitors, it felt like it was our secret.

It has a private theatre in the chateau as one of the previous owners wives liked to sing Opera but it was frowned upon in polite society, so she built her own theatre so no one could complain about what she did in her own house! Much to Carys's delight we found that the current Duke's wife, Larissa de Brissac, nee Larissa Széchényi, used to dance with the Royal Ballet! This was after she, Carys, had been doing arabesques and other dance steps around the grounds.
