The power of nature?

Growing things can be exceedingly stubborn when you'd rather they  cashed in their chips.
There was a particularly stubborn Holly, a mere stump on 13th Jun 2009.
It was still trying to die in October 2013.
I was only 100% sure it was dead last February.
These I found when reconstituting my worm composter. It must be months, if not  a year or two since it was functioning properly, inasmuch as there was nothing in there except a few egg shell fragments, LOTS of "lovely"(?) worm poo and these two - Avocado stones, the one on the right seems to have received a severe setback then thrown side-shoots.
