Ahoy Matey!

Our family has been coming to this area since before I was born and yet not one member of our family had ever been on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes! (The Chain of Lakes consists of 28 connected lakes & is supposedly the largest chain of fresh water lakes in the world). Goodness knows we've driven on the bridges OVER some of them often enough, so  my sister and I decided to change that by taking a cruise on the Pirate ship that "sails the chain of lakes"! (tho' it only "sails" on 6 of them!)  It was great fun--Captain Steve was full of stories of the history of the lakes and of the area, knew where the Eagles nests were (there were 2 nests, with the first nest having 2 young, flying eagles & the second having one), did permanent marker "tattoos" on all the kids, who also got pirate eye patches and bandannas for their heads, and he had a never ending string of jokes, most of which were pretty funny!! When one of the adult passengers told him one of his jokes was bad, he told the guy to "stow the comments  or else walk the plank", which made us all laugh!  :))
