Friend

I took Friend for a birthday lunch today. It was long and leisurely and the sun shone as we talked of life, love, friendship  and death.  At one point the fact that  she will suddenly cease to exist hit us both and words were lost in an upsurge of desolation. The time spent with her today was oh so special and the memory of it I will treasure forever.
