'Desert Life'
A warm still start to the day giving way to high winds again - albeit tumble drier winds!
This morning I wanted to photograph a 'ravine' on the Cliff Tops at the back of Almerimar. It is the first time we have actually stopped there and taken a look. I was disappointed as it is not as deep as I expected so no blip there.
However, on scouting about the site, we came upon this skull. A goat or sheep, which has been bleached by the sun and wind, there were other bones scattered about. Whether it had been attacked or BBQ'd and the bones left - who knows.
As you know we are in the Almeria Region of Southern Spain and we live quite close to the Tabernas Desert which is one of Spain's semi-deserts. Almeria is the driest region of Europe, with the Continent's only true desert climate. According to statistics the annual rainfall is only 156mm in coastal areas. I have to say that it seems like more than that over the last few years.
Life and death in a harsh climate.
