Making a mark
I started a new book today, Sweet Shop of Dreams by Jenny Colgan passed on to me from friend Doffy & have just finished The Secret life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd which I enjoyed very much. (a charity shop find)
And while looking for a bookmark I came across a stash of them
some gifts,
some aquired
and some bought - the latest being the dog with the soulful eyes in the middle.
I bought it on my trip to Port Sunlight last week and it's a detail from a painting in the Lady Lever Art gallery there, called "Fidelity" by Briton Riviere (1869)
which shows a poacher with his faithful dog waiting in a cell for his trial.
I love a picture that tells a story.
