Beresford Ruins on the Oodnadatta Track
A spontaneous change in plans while driving on the Oodnadatta Track had us camping by the dam at the Beresford Ruins. We'd been driving on the Oodnadatta Track, from Lake Eyre, and instead of the better amenities at Coward Springs, decided on staying here, near the ruins of the siding buildings and tower. It turned out to be a lovely photo opportunity, plus we had the sweet dawn chorus of shrieking corellas and galahs! What a racket they make too. I've got photos of dozens of them sitting in a gum tree, screeching at each other.
This old tower was used as a desalination plant for the railway engines on the Old Ghan Railway line.
