Caminito del Rey

A fantastic morning today walking the recently restored Caminito del Rey (The King's Little Pathway).

It is a walkway, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, Spain. The walkway had fallen into disrepair and was partially closed for over a decade. After four years of extensive repairs and renovations, the walkway re-opened in 2015. It has been known in the past as the "world's most dangerous walkway" following five deaths in 1999 and 2000.

If you look up some you tube videos of the walk as it was originally you will see just how dangerous it used to be. They have done such a fantastic job of the restorations and I am pleased to say it is a much safer walk. Although still not for those suffering from vertigo!

It was such a hard job to choose a photo for today's blip because everywhere you looked there was a stunning view, a fantastic rock formation or a precarious walkway to shoot. So I have added an extra today.
