Broken-heart mended
This is mum after her heart operation yesterday.
This had been postponed three times but, on Tuesday, she got a call saying that she could have an operation on Wednesday. Baby brother took her in yesterday and, when we went to visit her today, she was already out of the intensive care cardiac ward and onto the normal cardiac ward. She's doing really well!
The operation was to replace her heart valves with those from a cow. We wondered about the poor cow who, presumably, inherited mum's worn out valves. But cows don't live to a great age and they don't run around much anyway so it is probably OK. As well as the valves, there was a triple bypass.
In other news, the 11-a-side football season started with a friendly. I'm not planning on playing this year - too many Sundays spent waiting around for less than half an hour's play. So, this season, I'm only playing if they are really short. They had 9 on Sunday so I played - and we borrowed a player from the other side! After that, I drove to Hertfordshire to pick up M from his girlfriend's parents' house. They had all been at a big family wedding the day before and were all a bit delicate. Then we drove to Mum's to look at M's car which was reported broken. It was fine! So we drove it home and loaded M's old bike up and took it and him to the station.
Came home and had lunch at 6:00!
Back to work on Monday. It was shit.
