I love London
Had a fantastic day in London with friends soaking up the bonhomie and Olympic spirit. I wanted the shot of the Olympic rings at the Tower of London so headed there first and got that. Then it was spotting all the wonderful Wenlock and Mandeville statues along the river. At Southbank there was a man letting people taking photos holding the Olympic torch. Then off to Trafalgar Square which was buzzing with people. Took a stroll up the Mall with the Union Jack and Olympic flags flying. Then back to Trafalgar Square for this shot of Lord Nelson wearing the Union Flag and Olympic torch bicorn as part of the Hatwalk celebration. Apparently the hat was made by Lock and Co who made his original hat. Following that tea and scones at The Crypt at St. Martin's. Whilst we were there a lady came and told us about an embroidery exhibition. In fact it was the most wonderful display by the Embroiderers Guild entitled "Welcoming Athletes of the World". Each guild in the UK had been allocated a country and produced the most beautiful embroidered images representing each country in the Olympics. I love London and it was hard to know which photo to post today. I may have to go up again tomorrow. If you get the chance to visit London right now do it.
