The party's over
A drive over to East Lothian today through all the different kinds of weather: from glorious sunshine in Fife, to a wall of fog on the bridge, then lashing rain on the A1. But in Gullane the weather was bright enough, and rather gratifyingly the sun came out just as we arrived - giving us the reputation of sun-bringers to Gullane Games day. A lovely afternoon wandering around meeting old friends, and hardly seeing my children who were rushing around like mad things catching up with pals, winning tug of war contests and queuing endlessly for the bouncy slide.
So, though this shot may look a little sad, for us the party is just beginning - a week of playdates, sleepovers and book group reunions. It's enough to make me want to put out the bunting.
Finally, we could get into our holiday cottage and get settled in. Which of course mainly involved Olympic watching. What a night! I'm not sure the kids could understand why I was so excited to watch a British man run 25 times round the track faster than any of the other men. For me, Mo Farah's was the medal of the games so far.
