Mobbing

Not so long ago in the sky above our street I saw a noisy tern repeatedly swoop on a red kite. I was astonished to see such a small bird attack such a large one and Chamaeleo told me this behaviour to distract a bird of prey from a nest is called mobbing.

In the same bit of sky this evening the balloon was being attacked in much the same way, as the paraglider swooped and wheeled and dived and got in far closer than seemed safe from way down here.
