Cat on v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n

She's as relaxed as we are in this old house. 

We drove to Calais this afternoon, lovely scenery, but Calais rolled up for good in the 1960s I think. It's been a while since we have been there, but the downtown is pretty deserted with many empty storefronts. It's a border crossing town to Canada, but it looks like most people just drive through the town without stopping. 

We passed the marker for the 45th Parallel on the way in Perry. It marks the northern spot halfway between the Equator and the North Pole.  The same latitude connects Perry Maine to the wine regions of Bordeaux, the deserts of Mongolia, the northernmost tip of Japan and Salem, Oregon.
