View from the top.
View over Glasgow from the side of the Barrhead Gap, a corridor linking Ayrshire to Glasgow, from the hillside overlooking Neilson. I passed this way earlier this morning. We used to learn about the geography of this area when I was at school, a long time ago. There were many textile mills as Neilston became a centre for cotton and calico bleaching and printing in the 18th century. This developed into a spinning and dying industry, and continued into the early 20th century. A lot of people came to the to the small agricultural village for work in the industry. All gone now!
