Promise and Promiscuity

Roaringly good Edinburgh FringeFest outing yesterday with five very different shows. Good hit rate of 4/5 being 4 or 5 * but for me there was a one-woman explosion of talent, inventiveness, wit and wow who left all others standing.

Penny Ashton with her Promise and Promiscuity was a torrent of brilliantly written and performed originality. She took Jane Austen to dizzying new heights of pastiche and power-punnery, and the audience to tears of laughter.
