The Mongols are back!
It's been almost 800 years since the Mongols first arrived in these parts. Thirteen years later in 1236, Batu, grandson of Genghis Khan, returned with 35,000 men and stayed for a couple of hundred years to wreak havoc and take homage. They arrived on horseback, which of course gave them great mobility. Today, was a little calmer as the Mongolian Army performed as a prelude to the annual International Military Music Festival on Red Square. A second blip today too (this one more in keeping with preconceived notions ..). And a flashback to the last time the Mongols were in Moscow.
PS NORTH KOREA: Now for something completely different. Today I posted by last blip from my 14 days in China and North Korea last Fall. I am never sure about how late blips show up in BlipFoto but if you're interested here's the last one: Last Day in the DPRK.
Another Post Blip: IRAN and I am finally getting around to posting the images from my travels in March. Just posted Day 3: In Tehran in Depth in case anyone is interested.
