Hampshire Open Studios
We had a trip out into the New Forest this afternoon, J's Mum was comfortable and sleepy.
It is the last couple of days of Hampshire Open Studios, when across the county a mixture of professional, semi-professional and amateur artists and craftspeople open up their houses to exhibit their wares.
We visited three, and bought a little something at each one. All lie very much off the beaten track, so this is a good way of exploring the Forest.
Next year, we may come at the beginning of the event. I love Pete Gilbert's paintings - he has sold 23 paintings thus far, so little left. I bought a book entitled "From the Source to the Solent", paintings by him and photographs by Hugh Logan of the Lymington River. His paintings, in splashes of watercolour, are just wonderfully impressionistic.
