Three Castles and Good Well Hunting

Herself was on the hunt for holy wells today and I went along to give GPS support. 'One of them is a bit remote' she warned (she's good at optimistic understatement, see later).
The first was at Three Castles Head down a steep bank ending perilously at a cliff high above the sea. She clambered down of course (in sandals) and I had to look away.
We went on to the 'Three Castles', which are actually one castle with three towers, in a spectacular location and I made this sketch which I may paint later.
Then to the 'rather remote' location high above Barley Cove where she braved a bouncy dog to ask directions at a house and was given advice by two sisters and their brother who was watching Kerry winning the football (always hard for a Corkman to take) but had to hurry off anyway because his cattle had got out.
Past the short boreen, the going was tough, rough, steep, brambly and boggy but we finally found the well which was rather sweet in a well-ish kind of way with a little china cup and a statue of the Infant of Prague peeping out from the long grass in the remotest location imaginable. (See the extra in Herself's blip)
We tumbled and bog-hopped back down the mountain getting covered in black from the burnt gorse and driving home there was a bit of an agricultural whiff in the car from something one of us had stepped in.
Ice creams were gladly taken in Goleen.
