Gold postbox for our Golden Girl

Inspired by seeing Morag's Daily Journal blip of this postbox while it was getting painted, I headed down to the Castlegate myself today to see the finished article. It's rather impressive, sitting there beneath the imposing Salvation Army Citadel and there were a few folk taking pics while I was there.

In case you've been living on another planet, this postbox has been painted Gold to commemorate the success of local rower Katherine Grainger in the Womens Double Sculls at London 2012 (along with Anna Watkins of course).

P.S. This headline is also one to remember - even if it isnt strictly correct as all Aberdeen/shire medals have been won as half of double acts :

ITV News : "Aberdeenshire above Australia in Olympic medal table"
