CHIEF RAIN-IN-THE-FACE and the Grand Lake Pharmacy

With Kent at the helm, this was a most amazing store.
Selling hilarious cards, embroidered sweatshirts, holiday decor and
medicine for what ailed-ya.

Most days, cigar store indian, Chief Rain-in-the-Face, stood outside the front door. An impressive figure with his well carved, chiseled features he was a local favorite.
Ah, but with popularity comes - well, kidnapping.
Chief would suddenly go-missing for days or weeks.
Not to worry.
Photos of his escapades around the county would be sent to Kent.
Then, as suddenly as he disappeared,
Chief returned to his spot by the door wearing a slight smile on his face.
When the pharmacy closed, over ten years ago, the Chief left town permanently.
No letters this time. Whereabouts, unknown.

FYI- The real Rain-in-the- face, a Lakota tribe, leader. defeated Gen. Custer in the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
We never met.

FYI-this is one of two remaining carvings on Main Street
