Blyth Tall Ships
We didn't know the Tall Ships were in Blyth until Trevor Earthy Blipped about them a couple of days ago. Truth be told, we didn't even know where Blyth was! Anywhere, curiosity was stimulated when we found out that the Tall Ships were in Blyth for the weekend and that Blyth was on our way to our destination in Northumberland. It was about 3 hours trip from Preston where we have been for the last couple of days and the queue into the Park and Ride was very long. All that being said, we just about made it into Blyth before the ships set out on the Parade of Sail and we managed to find a suitable view point away from most of the crowds of people all enjoying the wonderful sunshine. The ships were amazing - from the very big to the not so big. How on earth anyone sorts out all the ropes (I suspect they're are not called ropes on ships like this), and how they get up there, I do not know, but you should be able to see a little figure up there somewhere on this image. The extra is this same ship as it was leaving Blyth Harbour a little later. Maybe the other vessels can give you some idea of the size of this ship which I think was Polish.
We didn't manage to link up with Ros, Trev and Chloe today, as they had ventured off down the coast to get a view of the ships hopefully under sail. I'm looking forward to seeing their Blip!
Another really interesting day visiting somewhere we have never been before and seeing things we have never seen before! Looking forward to the next few days too.
