Everyday I Write The Book

By Eyecatching

Yee ha!

All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

This is what happens when five go mad on a country walk and end up on a rocking horse in a children's playground. The kids said "Dad you look way too happy!" but I mean - how can anyone be too happy? But I'm sure we broke several bylaws as the young adults tried out all the equipment (for info - it was deserted so we weren't actually bothering anyone).

A wonderful family bank holiday. Brunch ended up getting later and later and eventually happened at 12.30 and was more like all day breakfast. Again we sat around yakking and laughing as the sun came out and eventually it got too hot to sit in the conservatory.

In the afternoon we went for a walk around Pirbright. This is a lovely little Surrey Village, home of the remarkable grave of Henry Stanley (he of "Dr Livingstone, I presume" fame - see extra). There were also, I noticed today, two graves for members of the Faggender family from the nineteenth century, which sounds pure Dickens to my ear.

The walk takes you up through the woods, and across some stables where I made friends with a lovely horse who didn't want to let me go and kept nuzzling my chest (see extra).

We ended up in the White Hart on the corner of the village green where we bumped into several people we knew. The young 'uns stuffed their faces. I had a pint of bitter, my third alcoholic drink in two months. Pleasant.

Leftover curry for supper. Found a hedgehog in the garden, first time in years since I've seen one around here.

Been a great weekend of socialising and .... horse riding.

LOOKING BACK:

One year ago today the late Aged P and I had a serene time listening to music.

Two years ago today The Dizzle had a great time performing Les Miserables.
