Etihad flying into Manchester mid afternoon during a short walk with Dad.

He always wants to know how far and how long it takes - he did really well today .75 of a mile along a country lane. He enjoyed the walk and the views on a sunny day and was really only a bit tired when back home.

Dad asks all sorts of difficult questions when we are out and about like why is the sky blue? and grass so green? I probably answered the latter better than the first one - he is impressed that I know the names of all the farms without looking at the map :-)

For the second day the side I was supporting in the cricket semi-final seemed to be in with a chance when listening on the radio only to lose when I got home to see the end on TV !

The evening entertainment was very unusual, BBC4's 2 hour real time drive through the Yorkshire Dales from Richmond to Ingleton though the programme finished at Ribblehead Station and we just saw it heading off on the last leg. I suppose the Viaduct was the place to finish on such a highlight. Dad slept all the way from Richmond waking up on Buttertubs Pass ( I have a feeling he would have done exactly the same if really on the bus).

The rest of the family loved this - a real treat for me (no ad breaks, no commentators, no summarisers, no post bus ride analysis) especially when we have 2 more weeks of Tennis ahead (US Open) loved by only half the family.
