Arkaroo Rock - Flinders Range

The weather really has does a downturn now, with heavy rain overnight. Some of the dirt roads will be closed, for sure. We've been so lucky to have got this far on our travels without hassles of road closures.

Yesterday we walked up to Arkaroo Roack, to see the aboriginal rock etchings and paintings. They're been painted on a huge boulder, with a wonderful overhang, which has protected them from the weather. A massive fence has been erected to stop the graffiti artists changing history.

I was gobsmacked. It was intriguing, beautifully done, artistic and somehow compelling. Utterly fascinating! If you can enlarge the picture you'll be able to see more details, and maybe even see where the artists have even used finger prints.

We arrived in Pt. Augusta last night, after having travelled a very circuitous but scenic route from Wipena Pound.
