La France profonde

We arrive in the northern Auvergne at our lodgings in deepest rural France. The farm is quiet except for the lowing of the Charolais cows. I wonder if there is a cockerel to wake me up tomorrow - cocorico (they haven't learned to cock-a-doodle-doo!)
