Birthday flowers

Back to earth with a bump today after our lovely birthday weekend - Gavin left early this morning for Boston (USA), and I was busy with my usual Monday morning chores - groceries, errands, post office etc.

I have spent the afternoon trying to get Thomas' things ready for school on Thursday. Of course his rugby kit from last year does not fit him anymore and as it is only available from the school shop, which is only open during term time, I have not managed to buy him a new set. I went through Luke and Adam's cupboards and found some kit which was in reasonable condition and not too stained, and he will have to wear that until I can get to the school shop later this week.

It has been lovely having Molly to stay with us for the past few days, and the cake that her and Adam made for my birthday is truly delicious. A gluten free orange-chocolate cake, which Adam then decided to cover in a chocolate mirror glaze. He did a superb job (with Molly's help) and the shine that he got on that would have met the approval of Paul and Mary on the Great British Bake Off! In fact he could have been star baker of the week!

Today our new sofas finally arrived - as we ordered them about 15 weeks ago we are pleased that they are finally here. The TV room is coming together nicely now, we are still waiting for the rug that will only arrive at the end of September, and a console table. Things seem to take forever to arrive.

I got some beautiful flowers for my birthday, and this is one of the bunches that Gavin gave me. I thought it would be a quick blip but I ended up taking about 50 photos of the same bunch of flowers and then editing them and faffing...so not a quick blip after all.
