Why did I come in here?

Once a Marine

Always a Marine.
This grill badge is going onto my new motor asap. Some former and serving military are removing any affiliation indicators due to the present state of the security risk in our country.
My view is slightly different. State who and what you are proudly, defy the elements that would disrupt our lives and ram their ideology down their throats so hard they'll need a torch to read the list of contents!
HM Corps of Royal Marines was founded from the Bands and servicemen of the City of London in 1664 as the Duke of York & Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot. After WW2 they were designated as Britain's Commandos. A role which carries a certain ethos, demonstrated by the Green Beret.
The Blue designates being part of the Royal Navy, the yellow is the colour of the Waistcoats worn by the Maritime Regt of Foot in 1664, the green is for our infantry role and the red indicates our position as a Regiment of the Line.
The Globe was awarded as our battle honour, as Royal Marines have fought worldwide, other units have the name of their battle honours on their unit colours, there were too many for one flag, consequently we received the distinct honour of the Globe. The Corps motto, Per Mare Per Terram, By Sea By Land, is succinct and tells many a tale. The Royal Marines captured Gibraltar, kicked the Spanish off and held it under siege until relieved 9 months later.
So, stand tall, stand proud and face down the drongos who would change our land.
PS Bootnecks love animals and children!
The extra is our eldest Grandsprog at an open day for his mum's company. Loony, just like his Grandpa. :-))
