solar power....

Living in Lusaka has many challenges, one of which is load shedding by the electricity company ZESCO!  Each area has a schedule of load shedding and where I live, I have no power 5 out of 7 evenings from 5pm to 9pm, and as it gets dark around 6pm we need either candles, lamps or solar power!  I already had a solar lamp which I brought from Malawi, but today I went to the local solar shop (which is only a few doors away from my house) and bought two of their small lamps which are on offer!

The other challenge with no power of course is no water.  Most days my water goes off around 2pm and may come again in the evening or maybe not, usually it comes back around 6am!  Its a bit frustrating but I just keep a couple of buckets of water in the house.

Language class today - new teacher - a bit challenging!!  Off to do my homework (I have power tonight!)
