ferry to the island
This is the last leg of our journey, day 3. I backblipped day 2 here. On our last day of driving from Florida to Canada we drove about 450 miles from Virginia to West Virginia, a short distance through Maryland into Pennsylvania and lastly through New York to Cape Vincent, where we caught Hornes ferry to Wolfe Island, Ontario, Canada. This was an amazingly beautiful day of driving through green hills and foliage we have not seen for awhile. Our route was designed to avoid the worst hills as that is hard when you are pulling a trailer, but we still got to see a lot of beauty. We were out running a very bad thunderstorm/ high winds and did very well. We only had to go through heavy rain for a short time.
Probably the worse incident of the trip happened this day. When leaving a store with lunch and drinks in hand, I dropped my wallet. When I realized this, we back tracked to the store but it was not returned to the store manager. Unfortunately someone walked off with the money (but fortunately only a small amount of the total we brought) 2 credit cards, my license, my ATM card. Do not worry, I had all the information about these items in a password protected file on my computer (thank you, steven) and have contacted everyone, cancelled all cards and re-ordered a new license, cards etc.
The good news of the day was this ferry! We were watching our estimated time of arrival on the GPS and it looked like we might possibly make the 6pm ferry to wolfe island. We pulled up at 5:59 and saw cars in front of us, but we just kept moving in line and were the last ones on (and the first ones off!). They had to unhook the boat trailer from the car in order to fit it on the ferry, but we made it!!!!!!! wE ARE ON wOLFE ISLAND AGAIN! Those are the Wolfe Island wind turbines you see in the distance, something new in the last 4 years.
I miss checking your journals but my computer usage is limited . . . thanks for checking in!
